Companies
CAA's dance companies prepare students for high school, college and professional careers in dance. CAA strongly encourages participation in a company to accelerate a dancer's education and development. All CAA company dancers are given opportunities to engage in service projects for their community and are encouraged to use their talents to help others through CAA's benefit concerts and through individual company projects. Registration is due Wednesday, May 1st, 2024.
COMPANY CHOREOGRAPHY Q & A
What is Choreography?
In general, choreography is used to design a dance that is intended to be performed at competitions and concerts for the year.
What do I wear at Choreography?
Please wear all black to each of your choreography days. Black leo and black leggings, no midriffs.
What if I am out of town or can't make it for my scheduled Choreography?
You must find another dancer to fill in for you. The Choreographer must see how to place dancers in a dance, and if you are not there then they don't know how to place you and you most likely will not be in that dance. You can ask a dancer from another team or company to fill in for you if you can't make it.
Please be on time:
It is crucial that you are on time and already warmed up. Choreographers only have so much time and would like to use all the time allotted to get the dance set.
Please do not talk during choreography:
Please be very quiet and respectful during choreography. Do not mess around with other dancers or disrespect the choreographer. If you need to practice your moves do this quietly on the side if the choreographer is working with other dancers.
How can I make the choreography process and experience more successful and enjoyable?
The process of designing a piece takes time and lots of effort! Remember to always work your hardest, and have a warm, open, willing, inviting attitude. There is a chance a choreographer might not know you or your strengths so be very willing to listen to creative direction and put forth your best attempts and skills so they can be utilized.
How do I pay for Choreography?
Choreography needs to be paid for before you can start learning the dance. You can write a check or pay in cash right before the choreography begins at the front desk. If you would like to have your account charged for choreography, please let the front desk know. There is a 5% charge if you choose to have your account charged.
