Janie Despain
Janie has had a love for dance ever since she was a little girl. Training in
a variety of styles including Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, African and
Contemporary. She has never been shy of the stage, and has had the
opportunity to perform in many venues and with many groups
throughout her career; including the 2002 Olympic Ceremonies, PBS
Television, Disneyland, Cruise Lines, Ballet West Nutcracker, and at the
Capitol Theatre as Miss Sandy 2012.
Janie was a member and choreographer for the Alta Dance Company for three years before becoming a Jazz Dance teacher assistant at the University of Utah. She was also a cofounder and choreographer of the Jazz Dance Student Club. Most recently, she expanded her repertoire of styles as a member of the “Underground” hip-hop crew for 2 years.
Above all, teaching is Janie’s most favorite role. She strives to ignite the passion for dance in all of her students and help them grow to become their very best selves!
