Jazz dance is a movement style that encompasses musical theatre, lyrical, contemporary, social, and commercial dance forms. Our jazz classes begin with a series of warm-ups and exercises to help students gain strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination, and then followed by dance combinations that emphasize musicality and stylized performance.
Jazz 1
The class begins with a warm-up, isolations and stretching. Students will learn fundamental jazz steps, alignment, and basic movement combinations.
Jazz 2
This class stresses technique and stretching. Students work on correct body alignment, coordination, strength and flexibility. Jazz dance vocabulary is expanded through across the floor exercises and simple combinations. (Ballet is recommended.)
