Lauren Gresens
Lauren Gresens, a California native and graduate of the University of California Irvine, holds a BFA in dance with performance and choreography concentrations. She moved to Salt Lake City in August of 2021 to pursue her professional dance career. She currently dances with SALT2, sister company to SALT Contemporary Dance.
Lauren began dancing at the age of 5 at KM Dance Arts, under the direction of Rita Matthews. After establishing a foundation and love for dance at KM, she later sought more focused training at Leighton Dance Project, with mentorship from director Kelli Leighton. Wanting to further advance her dance education, she began her studies at UC Irvine in 2016. There she had the privilege of working closely with respected artists including Charlotte Griffin, Loretta Livingston, Katarzyna Skarpetowska, and Distinguished Professor Lar Lubovitch. Gresens has performed Lubovitch’s restaged works Marimba and Dvorak Serenade and has performed in multiple restagings of his seminal work North Star as a soloist.
Lauren has a passion for travel and has spent formative summers abroad dancing in Italy and Israel to further develop her training and artistic perspective. She has also received supplemental training from workshops and intensives hosted by Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Gallim Dance Company, Repertory Dance Theatre, SALT Contemporary Dance, and chuthis., among others. Additionally, Gresens has developed a passion for choreography and has debuted works at UC Irvine, University of Rome Tor Vergata, and most recently on the dancers of SALT2. To complement her interests in somatic-influenced training and choreography, she is a certified Pilates instructor and teaches all ages and populations. Lauren finds the most joy in teaching individuals to move freely in their own bodies in any capacity.
